Title: Gill fishing 11/5/19
Post by: princecraft on Nov 05, 2019, 04:56 PM
A friend and I got out today and caught these 50 real nice gills.  One went 10 1/4.  We caught these in 40 fow and all were caught on crickets.  Surface water temp was 49.  Looking at the forecast, it looks like it is time to put the boat away.  I am ready.

Way to go. I'm amazed that the fish are so deep. Just a couple weeks ago I was getting nice gills on the deep side of the weeds about 5' down on bee moths and minnows. Just Monday we found some very nice crappie in similar areas 5' down over the weedy drop and even  further out past the drop. We ended up with 25 crappie that filled a 5 gallon bucket. Many 12-14" Black Crappie with 14.5" being longest. Caught them using slip bobbers, 1/32 oz jig heads with Bobby Garland, Monkey Milk, Itty Bitty  1" minnows, tipped with live minnow. These were from the Webster, Tippy,Barbee chains.
Boat may be coming out next week.

another g8t catch in deep water, whats this about 3-4 weeks in a row for you. I tried deep water a week ago in the lake I fish and with the wind couldn't keep it down like you, 5ft off the bottom. You must anchor or there's no wind.

Lots of wind.  I use my anchor lock 95 percent of the time.
