First off, that picture on top is a koi or a goldfish not a grass carp.  And they are fine but they will get large and can stir things up but a small pond might only need one or two, I have twenty  they are big and  you have to get a permit.  Aqua shade works well also.  For you folks with algae problems, that slimy filamentous stuff that can form great big mats on the surface seemingly overnight.  you might try Barley straw.  Its very effective.

Koi,Gold Fish,Grass Carp its all the same to me!

On another note though.

What would happen if you just put a Common Carp in your pond?

Would it do the same thing as the Grass Carp,And eat all the grass?

It may work but I think you could have an overpopulation problem when they start to breed .

Would they breed in a pond?

If so,You could just stick a couple Common Carp in your pond for the summer.

Let them eat all the grass, then catch them after there done to get them back out of your pond!

Or just put one huge one in LOL.

It deffinately wont breed then...
