The best way I have found is to “gill” them alive so they bleed out, and then immediately on ice. Gut them and remove the head, and cook the whole trout in tinfoil on the grill. Having eaten more than a few this is the best way I have had it. Either with lemon/butter/herbs.

This.  But also place a piece of brown paper bag inside the tin foil same size for the oil fo absorb into, delicious.

They are also good pickled in wine sauce like herring. Probably the most likely way    would eat them. I bought a smoker and will try some in that along with whitefish.

Mostly, though ~ My dogs love them!!!

The cooler water the wort?

Now that's a nasty thought.

I have a 5 trap recreational lobster license and have had decent luck using them as lobster bait.

Google "Lake trout Boil".  It's how they do them in the Great Lakes.  Does a fantastic job of getting the oily taste out if you don't like that.
Every rod has a story, and some of them are true.

Then they can put in the bulk sharks to get rid of the seals.

And then bring in Jeremy Wade to get rid of the bull sharks!

If our biologist had information and research on this article, they wouldn't have ruined the lake.
Most of you didn't fish the lake when there was many salmon over 5+ lbs. and plentiful whitefish in the
2-3 lb. range.
