Surfcasting Id cast left and do a hand off to reel left...did that for years. Bail was closed and rod handed off after the bait hits. Like Allan said it becomes second nature and if it didn't, it would be cumbersome and annoying. Eventually I decided that for efficiency sake it was better to just reel with my right hand.
