The DEC caught the gator in the river right behind the fairgrounds. Just so happens that the fair was in town. Mabe he just wanted to stop over for some fried dough.
He must have not known that at the State Fair they sell fried alligator meat. A fairgrounds isn't where an alligator should be visiting.
