If you haven't already...see what happens when you jig a heavy blade bait for lakers.  Madness I say...madness.

I’ve heard tell they are deadly open water jigging.

On the last two trips for laker, I used a few different blade baits and they did work (I like the Sebile Vibras best), but Wills Tin jigs with a lighter wire hook, hooked more fish and landed more fish. All hooks used were sticky sharp...

Ripping silver buddies is a blast.

Lakers love them and smallies can't leave them alone.

Great results on Newfound

As Allan mentioned, we do this now on Quabbin. And while it does work, my glow jigs easily out fish them. Nothing like dropping a glowing orb into 80ft of water for the fish to key in on.

So far ive landed lakers, smallies, largemouth, salmon, walleye, and a pike all on the same jig. The Pike and Walleye from the river of course.

Sebiles are definitely top notch and also discontinued sadly.

My understanding it was just the larger ones...

Those are the ones we use on the big lake.  On champlain the lakers will bend the hooks out on the smaller ones!

Even so they are incredible for lakers.

I picked up an 11oz one, do you think it might work on the big O?

I bet it would!  There's a OTW video of them using butterfly jigs designed for tuna and catching browns on them!

It does...they made it look easy and or found a lack of current.  It rips out there...we need to go back!

I think the ideal time would be October.  The browns should stage out front before entering the tributaries and be very susceptible to jigging.
