Help choosing GPS/Fishfinder combo
« on: Jul 31, 2006, 04:51 PM »
I recently bought a 24 foot boat for salmon fishing in Lake Ontario.  I'm a bit new to the boating scene as I've always fished from my friend's 19 footer.  I'm looking to purchase a GPS/Fishfinder combo and am do not want to regret the purchase.  Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the info Mac-I'm in the same boat as cclifford.  Quick question for you.  How does the power (peak to peak and RMS) effect the fishfinder?  What is the advantage with having more power in a fishfinder?

Unfortunately, money is somewhat of an object.  I was thinking of something in the $500 range.

No problem.
Not to get off topic.
But please explain your name.
It doesn't by any chance refer to a motorcycle?
Thanks.
Mac

No it does not refer to a motorcycle.  Nickname given to me by a bunch of buddies.  My name is Stan and I became know as "Stanimal" (Stan+animal).  The nick name has stuck with me for years and makes for an easy screen name.
