New Year's Day Fishing
« on: Jan 01, 2022, 01:54 PM »
What better way to kick off 2022?

I had planned to go ice fishing this morning, but the relatively warm (or at least mild) and wet weather we have been having the past few days convinced me to shift my sights to stream fishing instead.

I fished the upper end of my milk run on the South Hoosic in Adams (from Mullen Mayflower to just below the footbridge on the Bike Trail) for a half hour, from 12:45 to 1:15 PM.

The weather was blah (overcast, damp and 45 degrees) and (as one might expect given the recent weather) the stream was up a bit from the last time I fished it.

I reeled in a 12 inch rainbow directly underneath the Burnett/Bednarz Bridge (ironically right around 1 PM on 01/01) and landed a brown just a smidgen smaller right above the footbridge a little ways further downstream.

Hopefully, today's experience is a harbinger of things to come for the New Year.
