Title: Soft water smelt- Canadice/Hemlock

Has anyone gone for smelt immediately after ice out? I was wondering if night fishing with a light and bobber with tiny jigs would work. Maybe at the mouth of feeder streams. I would love to dip them, but I have no idea where to go and also have mobility issues. Fishing from a boat would be great.

I'd like to know too...but I think the usually run the streams a little later?
