Fix Matrix 27 or new fish finder?
« on: Sep 05, 2017, 10:00 PM »
The boat I bought this summer came with a Humminbird matrix 27, but it doesn't turn on. I'm guessing there might a loose wire, and the transducer was ruined at some point in my possession.

I haven't cared because I was happy with my vexilar tbox which comes with me and transmits data to my phone and syncs with Navionics app. However I'm finding its not very useful targeting fish at depth and certainly useless jigging for lakers in deep holes.

So a new transducer I think was at least $60, assuming the Matrix can be made to function, and the install is already done. I'm not familiar with the unit or its reputation and wondering if I should just buy something new. It will really only be used in fresh water and I still use my Navionics for GPS and speed. Is newer better in this case?

Cheers and thanks

I invested $170 on the Garmin striker 4 cv with upgraded transducer and I'm very please with it! The flasher function was a little disappointing though.
