Good to Get Out
« on: Mar 04, 2023, 08:31 PM »
Shoveling snow (6 inches in my neck of the woods, before it started compacting) and my usual Saturday morning, combined with working a Game Dinner from the later afternoon onward (and from which I just got back home a little while ago), kept me from going ice fishing today.

But I did manage to squeeze in a brisk 45 minutes of skiing on the Bike Trail in the later morning, and an hour of fishing the South Hoosic in the early afternoon.

The weather was cloudy but surprisingly mild (upper 30's) given the snowstorm we just had earlier in the day.

Even though I didn't catch any fish (or even have one hit my line), it was good to stretch my legs on a "big" stream.

That's particularly true because the only open water fishing that I've done since January has been on a tiny stream nearby that I can generaly count on to produce  kivver-sized brookies even in the depths of winter.

The early trips are always the slower, exploritory missions.  I enjoy them too.
