A Modest Success
« on: Sep 23, 2023, 05:18 PM »
Today is/was Free Fishing Day (no license required) in NY.

My buddy Bob and I headed over to Hoosick Falls to fish the Hoosic.

We arrived around 10:30 AM and fished till about 2:15 PM.

The weather was cool (56 degrees) and cloudy.  Stream levels were slightly elevated.

We tried three separate stretches - - the rocky beach, the St. Gobain plant and below the Falls.

At the first spot, Bob briefly had a small brown on, but it got away.

At the second, he landed a 9" brown.

At the third, I reeled in an 11" rainbow - - the first time I've actually caught one there (although I have hooked one or two there before).

Then we adjourned to Brown's Brewery for beers (a flight for Bob and an oatmeal stout for me) and snacks (a portobello sandwich for me and pulled pork for Bob) before finally heading home.

That stout sounds good Jim.
