we often go fishing without a tape measure or ruler, most of us want the big one but are happy to catch fish regardless of their size(eh reuben? :D) if you have a dollar in your pocket youll notice its 6" long and makes a good measuring tool when you have no ruler  ;)

You better watch out Tfb :D I now live one county north of Stalker Lake Swa.
It at one time held to Colorado State Record Bluegill. And I am ready to try it out ;D
You can either be the type of person that spends a saturday watching Dr. Phil, eating tofu in your bachelor appartment, or you can be the type that goes fishing.... Your call....The bass are biting...

You got me there ;) But I can still catch Trout! Our Dang Dow stocks trout in Jumbo Reservoir every year.
Even though it goes fry every year. :cookoo:

We also catch them on big bass poppers, crankbaits, and spinnerbaits.

You can always tell its a gill hit because they sip the popper more than the bass, a bass just kind of jumps and you here a big splash. Then of course, they fight harder then a bass!

I catch some big early season gills by twitching a Floating Original Rapala on the surface. Sometimes multiple gills will go for it at the same time....these fish do NOT sip this bait!  ;D

That's pretty cool zach, that sounds like the big green sunfish in the same lake. They are not as big as the big bluegill, average maybe 8-10" with many bigger ones, but they absolutely hammer stuff! Pound for pound greensunfish are the hardest-fighting sunfish.

Those are some solid gills. Looks like iceshanty's super poster learned a lot from the site. Nice gills, especially for icefishing
