Biggest channel cat I have caught was only about 5 pounds
My buddy caught one that was about 12 pounds when we were fishing a small shallow pond for panfish though, boy was that a suprise when he hooked into that.

you guys are just fishing for them incorrectly.  Those big cats like huge baits and you need heavy equipment.  If you use large cutbaits then you are bound to have success. I have caught many large cats and a few over 34". Biggest was a 38" 2 summers ago  man what a fight that was.  Anyways just trying to give a little advise.  Trust me it works.  Tropthy hunter is a great guy to ask for tips as he catches more of them than i do  oh well. ;D  good luck guys

My biggest is 35 1/2", but I'm trying for some of the bigger ones that live in the Red River. BTW - Manitoba went to a length measure rather than a weight, because it caused less stress on the fish by tearing fewer internal mesentarys that hold the organs together rather than hoisting them vertical, and assured better release survival. (Anything over 24" must be released).
