When we raised Bob White Quail on the ground in bottomless cages we moved around, any insect that got in there was instantly history. I once dropped a spider in and it was like a massive stampede of Bob White to be the first to get it.

Bobwhites are a great idea; however,  they are regulated in the Great State of New York and a license is required to raise them legally. Whether a class A or B license depending on your intentions, this includes a fee, record keeping, and annual reports to DEC.  Nothing is as simple as it seems.   

from what I seen townships on long island  are  doing it and it serves a duel purpose  because high school children  help raise them

Usually the first week in spring when i find it is dry out they emerge by the millions. Everybody asks me if im ever scared of anything cause i walk the woods at night. I always said coons and ticks are the only thing that comes at me at night. The old men used to tell me of lime disease. The way it scared them and they talked about it ive always been paranoid about lyme disease. Its a nasty thing. Check for ticks. Wear permitium and get a thermacell. They havent as bad lately. I pulled 6 out of me one day end of may and 15+ off my clothes. Worst day ever. I usually only get that much a year. Everybody stay safe out there.

Wife got lymes and it got aggressive and almost killed her due to a misdiagnosis.  Ive been bit quite a bunch and have been lucky.

   They might have it but I get mine on line...

You can buy permethrin everywhere. Even grocery stores.
