A month or so ago I finally finished my boat and have been out on Sebago with my son and few guest every weekend, this morning was no different except our guest canceled out and it was just us so we decided to try a place we hadn't been yet this year and within a few minutes we were into the togue.
We started off at 7:00 with this one.....

And it didn't take long for the boat to start looking like this...going to take a day to clean off all of the blood, maybe Mondays guest will volunteer :w00t: :whistling:

Before lunch we lost count of how many we caught, I think we had 7 keepers and 8 slot fish.
At noontime we headed to Harmons beach and had lunch with a friend of ours and took her father out with us for the afternoon, tried a spot I had never fished and got right back into them...

We fished there for a couple hours and decided to head to one of our regular spots and sure enough they were waiting for us there to...we boated 4 or 5 that were in the 24 to 27 inch range and then Ray, our fill in guest hooked into this....
(https://s1.postimg.org/8433mxonmj/20171007_160901.jpg) (https://postimg.org/image/8433mxonmj/)
A little over 32 inches and 14 pounds....and it had this
(https://s1.postimg.org/5uwuhlx517/20171007_161939.jpg) (https://postimg.org/image/5uwuhlx517/)
A 20 inch cusk sticking out of its mouth, which was kind of a neat biology lesson, you can see in the pic that half of it was digesting in its stomach while the rest of it was sticking out of its mouth while it was swimming around....and it still took a lure...what a pig!!
So then we got a few more keepers and my son hooked into this one...

Another 32 incher but 10 pounds.
Ended the day with well over 20 togue and turned out to be one of the best days I've ever had on sebago, not only were the fish biting but the weather was absolutely perfect, got to make some memories with my son and made a new friend for life.
Here's a few more pics from the day...

Great pictures, thanks for sharing. Nice fish.

Great day for you Glen, looks like you and Austin kept your guest busy. I think maybe there was a spirit on board with you, smiling all day. :)
Your Monday guest is in for a busy day I think. ;)
My nephew also fished yesterday and had over 15 with only two legal fish. :)

a that's a good day fishing now how bout a picture of the new boat

Glen you guys had a epic day. Great recap of your outing! That is crazy that Togue ate a 20” cusk. When togue get that big I guess they can eat whatever they can. Was that Threshers boat? It is getting fishy again. Congratz!

It's a 1987 23 foot pro line, stripped it down to the bare hull, and made a new boat out of it, all new wiring, new motor, upgraded the outdrive to
Gen 2, repainted her, refinished all the teak and built the top.

Nope, one of his kids has it and is tinkering it up for next season.

Way to slime up the boat!
-
Nice post. Sounds like an awesome day. Nice boat.
-
Quality fish. Nice work!!

nice fish, especially those double digits. i have never seen sebago light up with lakers like it has for the last few weeks. im catching them from the prop wash down to 40 feet, you're getting them down 90, they are just eating everywhere. going to need to rethink the line size, im getting ticks on the reel with clean bite thru/ instant breakoffs
-
Awesome job on the boat.
More pictures please!!!
Love the overhead rod racks.

I was going to head home to sanford to grab some gear (my downvu sonar for togging in RI!) and I thought I'd give sebago a shot. I'm guessing they are spawning now and can be found in the shallows? Will they hit all day or just mornings like early fall? I'm seeing trophys come out of the big lakes!

Sad to say, but I haven't been out in a couple of weeks. Last time we went out they were deep..100+ feet, had to work to get'm but it was worth it.
Could be anywhere now, I'm sure the warm weather has them confused.
Good luck if you go!!

Great to see you had such a nice catch Glen

was slow this weekend but they are still active chasing alewives into the shallow edges. if you are trolling and find them, you want to be there early or the jigging guys get in your way ;D was out there for hours sunday before a boat stopped and dropped lures in my way, the whole lake to fish,no one but me out there and they pick the tiny spot im trolling. im fishing 30 to 70 feet. been picking up some stocked salmon as well, mostly males which is odd but maybe the natives are in the rivers now.
-
I would normally use big copper wobblers or suttons trolling for togue deeper...Will these mimic an alewive in shallow water?
-
i have been tying streamers, the bottom one seems to work the best, they are 3.5 to just about 5 inches long. i lose alot fishing the edges so these seem to be the cheapest solution for me. its basically a striper style fly tied on a long shank hook
