So...I delivered my Son's wall hung board today.

Came out pretty nice. He was surprised.

Let the games begin👍👍

Next up.....the clock of my dreams  :w00t: :w00t:

I've had an idea for a clock rattling around in my brain for a few years, believe it or not. This morning I drew it up full scale. It's somewhat unique.

More to come.

The projects look great guys! Keep them coming!!
Do you think fish go home and lie about all the bait they stole?

Early to bed, early to rise
Fish all day and make up lies...

There's a reason they call it fishing, not catching.

Awesome work there guys! RG, I've been itching to make a clock, and a lamp too.

Our Pastor was retiring, I made him a birdhouse that is a replica of our church.

Thanks to everyone for contributing to this topic. I always knew there were others with sawdust up their nostrils. :-[

I like it Bart. Didn't know you messed around in the wood shop.

Here's a drawing of the clock I'm making.

The diagonal lines will be a 24" wide x 17" high rectangular back mount of clear maple.

There won't be a clock face.

The hour indicators will spiral out as drawn. They will start at 1 o'clock with a 3/8" dia. X 3/8" high turning and progress in size to 1 3/4" dia. X 1 3/4" high at 12 o'clock. The 3,6,9,12 will be turned from Mopina and the rest from Redheart. No numbers...just indicating positions.

The hour hand will ride within the entire spiral. The minute hand will pass over 1-6 o'clock and then move inside of the remaining hours. The sweep second hand will cover the entire face.

The shape and form comes from a Fibonacci number series and the "Golden Spiral" he derived from that mathematical formula. While the spiral is an adaptation, the concept is relative.

Anyway, it's gonna be fun to build and should be an interesting piece of wall art.

I have the maple in hand as well as the Mopina and Redheart. Picked up a clockworks at Michaels this afternoon.

I'm almost ready to dive in. Might do a couple prototype hour markers from poplar before I cut into the really expensive stuff.

Thanks all!

Rg, I don't have a wood shop really, don't have a lot of the toys. I do like playing though and birdhouses are a favorite. Looking forward to watching your clock coming all together!

The last project were fur stretcher boards, a friend had gave me some nice basswood.

Wood working is what you make of it Bart. It's a respite from life on general. Kind of like fly fishing.

Made some progress today on the clock project. Cut up the maple and started making the prototype hour indicators.

I'm leaning towards not turning a dome shape on the indicators, but rather, leaving them absolutely flat and bringing the pieces to a high polish.

A work in progress.

That is a beautiful cradle. It should be used for many generations to come.   ;D
