A few more boat pics
« on: Oct 14, 2017, 06:16 PM »

The over head rod rack is really nice, the part in the front I drew up and had it water jet out of 3/4" thick UHMW and then went around it with a router to round of the corners, the back is just 1/8" aluminum that I had laser cut and put 2" grommets in the holes.

The one thing I never liked about the rod holders that come with down riggers is the reels always seemed to be upside down and I don't like using them for lead line so I made these using some Down Easters and they work very  well on the riggers and lead line.

Here's  a couple shots of the helm, went a Simrad sonar/gps and I'm very happy with it, I would highly  recommend it. The boxes under the seats are made for a couple ice chest  to fit in.

And it  wouldn't  be complete without  a tribute to my long time fishing buddy.

You did an outstanding job with the work you did Glen. You didn't miss a beat in making it very functional. That motor sure runs sweet. The frosting on the cake is that it catches fish, lots of them. :)

You did a great job of building your rod holder post for the downriggers, but I believe you will find them
inadequate for the downrigger rods once you begin to use them... i did the same thing years ago, and
wound up with rods overboard, because they were not strong enough.  It is a simple fix however as you
can always get some Big Jon rod holders and mount them to the same post.  The boat looks great, and
will be a great fishing platform once you start...
My life is enjoying the Maine's outdoors, for whats left of it that the states
biologist, haven't ruined.

Great ingenuity and work with the boat.   Also great to see you enjoying the fruits of your labor on your other post!

What a great set up. Thanks for sharing.
At the mouth of the river at Sebago in the Spring, it's East to West unless you want a beating from the rest! ;D ;D
