« on: Nov 26, 2017, 06:30 PM »
Past few days have been busy...(so busy I skipped ice fishing in Nov which I could have done)...

Good few days if catching...limit of blackfish Friday, pile of perch and crappie Saturday and some trout this morning and afternoon.

+4hrs.  To be clear I stayed in my boat and did NOT ice fish, the perch were from western mass (surface temp 42).  Chances of beating the musky I caught last year are so slight I went for the sure thing.

Nice bag of fish. If things aren't frozen here when deer season closes, I'll have to break out the fishing gear too.

Thanks Double. I'd love to hunt for the meat gathering aspect but never got into it.  Always too busy fishing!

Holy Toledo, that's quite a haul for a long weekend!

Those blackfish are some ugly looking critters.

I've never caught any.  (Then again, I don't fish salt water).

If you don't mind my asking, where did you catch them?

I dont mind at all Jim and yes they are homely looking.  Those were caught in long island sound near Stratford, CT.  I think you'd enjoy fishing for them.  They fight hard, and what they lack in looks, they make up for it in being amazing table fare.  Mild white flaky meat.  Cant buy it commercially so I try to stock up.  My buddy took the perch and crappie.  That turned into 10lbs of filet!  Im sitting on about 15lbs of blackfish filet that I freeze in blocks of water.  That way I can thaw it and eat it a year later and its amazing.

As for the trout.  See your pm because its a pattern you will want to try to hit before its too late.
