Well Grump, here are three of the main ingredients for our gourmet dinner...

First, the wine served chilled...

Next, the main dish 20" landlock salmon (kept from yesterday) poached or baked...

cider cybermeal delayed due to inclement weather.....spots of snow still in prime morel picking spots as of this morning....thumped around and scared off a few nice whitetails who were having breakfast....skiff of ice on the frog ponds....still happily chirping away...looks like next weekend....if....we have a little heat this week...conditions are prime for a great morel spring season.....going to check it out late this week or weekend....cyber meal is going to be great as long as that 20" salmon doesn't get devoured prematurely.....grump 8)

Well, we will just have to catch a few more salmon/trout so that all the members can get healthy bite!!

Maybe we could serve up a grandslam: brookie, rainbow, brown, laker, landlock, cutthroat (requires help from Colorado members).  Any others you want on the menu?  I have some brookies and a laker or two that I can toss on the pile!  ;D

cutthroat (requires help from Colorado members).  A

sorry, I never keep cutthroat, in many places it is illegal and in the places you can I never go because the fish are too small. But maybe raleigh can help you with that...

You will need to share some culinary secrets of the great morel with me first!  Then I will top off this awesome meal!  My folks are coming for a visit this weekend.  I have a landlock salmon waiting to accompany some creamed morel sauce!

How about your favorite poached fish recipe too??  ;D

No, I am a biologist.  Thank you for the compliment though.  I just enjoy food.  The more complex and rich the flavors, the happier I am!  The real joy is seeing other people pleased by my cooking.  It is a nice feeling knowing that you can create a meal that will light up faces and have people talking for a few days.  I also take immense pride in preparing my fish and game.  To me, it is as important to respect the harvest by a gourmet preparation!  As with anything I am passionate about, I strive to be as good as I can at it.   ;D

For desert...freshly picked strawberry shortcake on homemade biscuits with homemade whipped cream...sorry, forgot to take a pic of it...however, I can testify to the fact that it was YUMMY!  ;D

You will notice the presence of "foreign" mushrooms in the morel cream sauce...  As there were quite a few people over for dinner (four more than usual) and a limited supply of morels, I chose to supplement the sauce with freshly sauteed baby portabella mushrooms at the very end of preparing it to give the sauce some substance and stretch the morels.  I had intended to add some wild oyster mushrooms rather than the portabella, but I forgot to pick some up at the market and had to go with what I had on hand.  Yes, I am stingy with my morels!

Also had every intention of including fiddleheads with this meal like the menu called for, but several of the dinner guests don't care for them and we ran out of burners on the stove!  You'll have to settle for this pic from a previous meal of fresh brook trout and fiddlehead ferns in balsamic vinegar...
