Reeleyz, great trip.  I should have done that when I was younger.
I did get out for the first time in two years opening day.  Within 30 minutes I had a button under me and he kept on looking behind him into the woods. But, as with most of my encounters with button bucks, he was alone.  That was it.  My two friends out with me had better encounters with nice bucks and does but no shots were taken.  Hope to get at it again tonight.

What part of CO did you hunt?  I am hoping to get there in the next 2 years to give the public land a shot.
It’s by far the most beautiful state in my opinion.

Gunnison area.

Start prepping yourself now! Those hills are steep!

I am probably going back in 2 years myself after mule deer with the MZ.

Shoot me a message and I can give you some info.

I took my oldest on a hunt last night. I have been working with him using a saddle all summer. We had a great hunt last night and I got to shoot a doe with him there.

We had to back out because the shot was not great. I went back in this morning and found her about 100 yards from the shot.

That’s great stuff. He’ll never forget that and I’m sure he learned a lot. Great photos of the Colorado elk hunt as well. I did an Arizona hunt 5 years ago and it’s definitely an unforgettable experience. Congrats on your deer and good luck the rest of the season.
