Bomoseen Browns
« on: Jul 09, 2018, 11:30 AM »
I have fished Bomoseen for years now and would like to target the browns in there.  Most of my luck has been through the ice except for a good size rainbow in the channel and a smaller brown at crystal beach that I lost- both caught back in the 80's.  Any suggestions for targeting them in the summer?  I have tried jigging in deep water but never any luck.  also have two old downriggers and leadcore that I want to try out.  not looking for anyone's secrets but maybe enough info for a novice to get started.

I think some db smelt spoons and pulling leadcore would get the job done.

I spent a little time on Bomo this past winter and caught some really nice perch. I was actually targeting gills but perhaps in the wrong areas. Looking to come back up as the weather improves   Any advise  ?  I'm mainly a panfisherman  thanks

Yes I know this thread is dated but I'm bored.

I stopped at a Bomo campground on vacation years ago to target the browns and bluegills. The campground was such a dump and there were at least a 100 kids yelling and screaming at 10 o'clock at night running back and forth I told the wife we were going home. And we did.

There were also a lot of bait containers and trash in the water at the boat ramp. Did go for a boat ride to check things out and there was a part of the lake that looked like it was being taken over by invasive milfoil. Didn't look like trout water to me.

For some strange reason I haven't had the best experiences in Vermont. Stopped at a restaurant there and there was a hair in my soup.  :rotflol:

I grew up in VT but have been in Maine since 1986. I still lurk on this site in search of fish posts. I see more on Facebook Lake trollers , that’s a good one to follow. Taxid that’s unfortunate your findings in your visits. In general I feel VT is mostly clean of litter and most people respectful. At least where I grew up in Richmond/Huntington along with my parents house now in Alburg on Lake Champlain.

That's good to hear as I was starting to wonder.  :rotflol:

Perhaps the problems at the campground were from people out of state.  ;)
