The rainbows were fired up this afternoon.  Landed 1 large one (stocked) probably 5 or 6 pounds.  Went to snap a pic and it took off.  Caught a dozen or so smaller rainbows.

Very nice fish!
Did you hit the Q? Will could not make it, so I hope to get out sometime this week with someone. I have the week off, so if not there, someplace else...

Housy 800 cfs before the rain....topped out at 3000 cfs.

Farmington (lower tma) was 387 and hit 4400!

Be a few days before its good to get back out on either.  Good news is the recent housy transplants should be spread out well.

Yeah we got like 4+” of rain. Stream next to my house is usually 3-4’ wide n a foot deep.  Typically like 8’ of clearance under the bridge.

Wild.  Just as soon as there was enough daylight to put in a solid after work mission.

Headed in the wrong direction.....flow bump to lower the level on Colebrook river res.  900 is not easily fished on the upper stretch.

Spent some time yesterday on a smaller stream in western ct managed for wild trout (I say that loosely).  Class 3 water so defined as having a few wild trout with stocking added.  Well, results seemed to prove that to be relatively honest.  3 bows and 1 wild brown.  Not a bad effort for a couple miles of pools in am evening.  Black stonefly was the ticket with one fish on a rainbow warrior.

End of month was an easy one so I checked out early and fished more new water.  I ended up dissappointed.  Section of river I picked is in a spot called Hidden Valley.  Well, turns out its not hidden and has a well traveled walking path going most of the length of it.  So not only did I get the skunk, I was way over my people threshold.  Now Im expecting every river that remained fishable today to be blown out by tomorrow night.

Unsure if I want to play in high water with a full sink tip or sit on the couch and learn.

Found this gem a minute ago:

I did some light reading on the subject and there are a few.

I read survey information on CT and in almost every sample site the numbers dropped significantly.  Except for 1 where the numbers went from a few hundred sampled to 1400.  I will be visiting that area soon!

There wasnt a pot of gold, but there was more than a few willing stockies last night. For a skinny stream they were very close to the banks.
