New pb pike
« on: Feb 19, 2023, 08:55 AM »
Judging just by feel/length.  This one was about 18lbs or so.  Probably near 40".  The one hit I had Friday afternoon and it was the one I was looking for.

Nice catch. Time for early season browns for me.

I was after those yesterday morning and only the bow would play.  Have a couple hours this afternoon.

Good luck hank!

Great partner!
Our daughter Kelly is down visiting.
Donna took her shopping.

The boat is finished enough to take her out in it this week.  No fishing that day though.

However, I’m tired of waiting.
So I just went out to my shed and cleaned it.  During this, I dug out my small “travel” tackle bag and a nice 6’ ML spinning rod and reel.   8)

When they get back in an hour or so from the shopping trip I’ll jump in the golf cart and head down to the fishing pier here in our park and throw some small Cleo’s.  Not sure if I’ll catch anything, but it’ll scratch the itch a little bit.

Nice fish Jon! Congrats.

Does the body of water it came from get planted with trout? As I'm sure you probably know they love soft rayed fish and allegedly the big ones go deep in the summer. Our biggest pike in my locale come from lakes that have planted trout. The state record of 48 inches and over 30 pounds I mounted for a guy spit up a 20 inch rainbow.

Nice gator! Traditional tackle, or in the fly rod?

Nice fish Jon
I landed its twin a number of years a go during a bass tourny on the Ct river near Bellows Falls. Mine was 42" and weighed 18 1/2 lbs.
I bet you had fun getting that beast into the boat
