I started a new job at the start of this bow season so I have only sat in a stand for a total of 5 1/2 hrs, it sucks!! So when I went to go sit in the stand behind my house the other night and this scrub buck hopped up I didn't even hesitate, I shot him on the spot, turned around and went back in the house LoL!! He made it about 10 yrds and crashed and didn't go no further. His eye was gored and there was big gore mark across his eye and his antler was broke off, it looked very recent, the cut and eye wound was real fresh and still bleeding. Wish I could see the one that put a whoopin on him but I'll take what I can get at this point!!
done dirt cheap!

Good job on the venison dirty! Looks like he might have been clipped by a car.

I kind of thought that might have happen at first too but there were no other injuries to the body and all the meat was fine, no bruising whatsoever, I thinks he got into a scuffle, the damage was all done to his eye and the top of his head
done dirt cheap!

Nice day man, that photo takes me back to my days of upland bird hunting. Pheasant, grouse, woodcock and a duck or 2 if you walked along a stream or pond. My Irish setter Casey flushed them all and fetched them too; but only fetched 1 woodcock! After that, he'd flush them up; but would never pick 1 up again. Weird, must be he didn't like the taste of them. Silly dog, he was the best bird dog I ever had the pleasure of owning. Bought him as a pup for $25 from a friend who's dad raised and hunted them. The good ole days.  :thumbup_smilie:

yep.  must dogs won't pickup a woodcock.    must be the worms make them stink.   don't blame the dog 😉

I took time off from fishing to go out and use the crossbow ... after setting as long as I can  ...about 10 minutes I heard something coming ,turns out to be a really decent doe .... about 15 yards....crossbows really hit hard  and I did not have to follow her very far ...impressed with my expert hunting abilities I gut her and got out the rope.....OMG  either deer became heavier or I got older  :( .....I dragged a few feet and rested ,r=thank God for making me lazy and I was only 75 yards off the roadway .....ok we are now at the truck ......wait this deer has to go into the back of mt truck which means I have to lift her ...I tried about 100 ways to get her in there with no luck till a man decided to help me.....I had to call Freddie to tell him about yesterdays fish and my new founded luck ..... which he said  why didn't ya just call me I woulda came and helped you ....duh   so I have decided as a true sportsman  no more big deer  they are big targets and anyone can hit them ,i'm shooting hard to hit small deer

thank you to the gentleman that saved me from a heart attack   or a back operation
