Are you talking about browns and so on? I fish Champlain for browns and LL Salmon but the launch we like to go out of is still frozen in...we would love to take a trip out to Seneca if it was worth it? If it is worth it where would be a good place to Launch? I went to Ithaca College so I am semi-familiar with the area.
Thanks,
Mark

pikemaster... seneca lake never freezes... 3 X 40 miles and 618 feet deep..........    Waves are terrible most of the time.
It will be a while til sampson will be accessable.  I was there today for a fun trip with the fam, and slush is everywhere and ice in the marina, so don't  count ont launching there for a week or two at least

awesome man, and yes it never freezes although I have heard of a little ice fishing on the north end every decade or so, and I heard from an old guy that it froze in the 50s after a week of -35 degrees. It has a pretty strong current and a breeze can make a foot plus high waves which can bust a few inches of ice.  Seneca is an awesome place to fish... I am going there probably friday to fish it for trout and northerns and maybe perch, just not out of a boat yet.   My buddy is waiting another week or so to unwrap his boat.  I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!

sounds like a great fishing lake. Our great lakes freeze over with great ice up to 7 or so miles out. I was just thinking all lakes would follow suit. I can see if you guys have current though
