Going to be staying at a cottage in Gray from June 16-23. Right on Forest Lake, I believe.
I like trout fishing, but I really just want to fish. I don’t have a preference
Anyone willing to share suggestions as to where to go, what to do, how to fish the waters?
As of right now, we’ll be boatless, so it’s shore fishing and wading.
Any advice would be much appreciated!

Been a long time since I fished up in Maine, When I fished i fished weeds along shoreline for pickeral and small mouth. Trout I seemed to find deep off the bottom. Like I said many years ago, but hope it helps. I fished near Patten and Lake Pemaquid.

Presumpscot or Pleasant Rivers in Windham near Route 35 crossing. They're fly fishing only. The fishing should still be OK in June.

Best advice I can give you is check the stocking report (link below) the week or so before you go to Maine, and if you're unfamiliar with the area use Google Maps or what not. If you try a variety of different places you should find success.

Presumpscot @ Rt. 35 is fly fishing only but the Pleasant river is not, it's artificial lures only. June 16th will a little too late for good trout fishing at both those places on a normal year (water temperature will be in the 60*F's by then).

If you are staying on a lake they must have some kind of boat.
Forest lake has bass and white perch

White perch fishing can be fast early in the month of June . The state does not stock the lake any more as there is not a public access.

Piscataqua river gets stocked with trout and that's pretty close.
