shad flies

 Hey guys, im gonna be fly fishing in a shad tourny here in a couple weeks, im new to fishing for shad and wanna tie up some flies for them...anybody here fish shad? have any suggestions on patterns and how i should fish them...any help would be greatly appreciated

I was fishing shad with darts and there was a guy fly fishing , not sure what he had for a fly but it was white with a red head and about an inch long.It was not a dart.BB
