Hummingbird Base Map & SOLIX Unit
« on: Mar 20, 2018, 10:12 AM »
Just upgraded our electronics on the Grady this week to a Hummingbird SOLIX 12" with the Mega Side & Down Imaging.  Couple questions:

Anyone care to share their opinion on the SOLIX, if they have one?

How good is the Base Map?  I fish Casco Bay mostly but also trailer up to Moosehead and some of the other larger lakes.  It looks like the base map has about 8 or 9 garbage lakes on it (for Maine).  Should I spend the extra money on a Navionics card? Is the Navionics Coastal mapping even better than the Hummingbird Coastal mapping?

Thanks

Not much help but.....i have a humminbird helix. The maps included are not much good for anything.  I have the lakemaster+ map card. Those maps are amazing. Only thing i will say is if i didnt have the map card with upgraded maps it would be useless even looking at the map. Lots of small lakes and rivers on there that you wouldnt expect.

Yah, looks like the base map might be pretty weak.  I think that I'll go with the NE marine and lakes card from Navionics.
