Pick them and place them in a dark place.
They ripen in the dark
We use a paper shopping bag and close it
Or we put them in those short soda can cardboard boxes and them slide them under the bed.
Check them every few days pulling the ripened ones

I got my garden spot all worked up the other day. It look's like my plans for the spot will be put off until spring. To many of my neighbors leaves coming down on it to waste the grass seed. I will work them in yet this fall and plant the grass seed in the spring.

Yeah, my son helped me pull the flower gardens yesterday. Hate to see them go.

If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Picked some more peppers Sunday for a very large batch of spaghetti sauce I made.

There's still tons of peppers in mine and it's not showing any signs of giving up soon.
The weather will play a large part though.

The brussel sprouts are still kinda small but they are a cold weather plant and will grow another couple/few weeks depending on the temps.

I don't think I'll be closing the garden until the 2nd or even the 3rd week in November.

Then I till in some manure and then cover it will heavy black plastic foe the winter.
The black plastic kills and helps rot any old or new weeds and seeds.
Bakes it good in the spring giving it a good kick-start.
And the plastic is cheap at Home Depot.

This fall I mulched my leaves and spread them on my garden hoping this winters snow would cover them and
help them decompose. So with the lack of snow I went out yesterday a tilled them in and already I can see a difference
          in the soil.
