Brown Trout...
« on: May 31, 2011, 08:55 PM »
My day started on Sheepscot Lake hoping to catch Lakers and Salmon. I got there around 7 am. and fished until 12:30 and never had a hit. I blamed it on the weather or the moon or some other problem. It couldn't be my fault.
I went home to bring the dog to the Vets for an appointment, then cook my wife supper. I had to get back on the water to try to redeem myself. I fished the last few hours of the day, looking of some brown trout. Well luck would have it I ended the day with 8 trout from 15-18". The lake was very rough and made it hard to land the fish and stay on course,I did lose a few others.
Here's a few I had time to take picture of ,nothing big but still a lot of fun.

I'm assuming you didn't go back to Sheepscot?? right??  I've never had much luck there at all.  In fact in a half dozen trips, I've never caught a trout or salmon.  It's so pretty, it makes me want to keep trying but there is better fishing in the area I think.

Your right I didn't go back to Sheepscot, but I have had some good days out there. Plus it's only 15 miles from home and it has Togue, Salmon, Browns, Brookies and Splake in it.Early morning has been the best time for me there. I was fishing China and it is only a stones throw from home. Some day I'll catch a big one out there.
Good burst of action and nice browns to end the day!
I must have been a sight to see out there. At times I had doubles while trying to keep the boat from coming around and the white caps were tossing me around.
Nice browns Jim!!

It was fun but I wish I had someone there to share it with, it was one of those days that was hard to believe.
The thing about getting shut out on one lake is I'm still fishing and having fun.

Good job.  Those windy days seem to produce some good fishing.  :)
