I bottom bounce by drifting or rowing very slowly. Use drift sock if wind picks up. Get a fare share of hang ups which can be a pain but par for the course.    Sometimes when the wind starts to create a better chop the walleyes become more aggressive. I'm in the eastern part of the "arm". Too far for me to go to the main body.

Mixed bag today. 1 walleye (16") 1 rock bass, 2 SMB and an 11" perch. Water temp 78*. Seeing a lot of bait near bottom but the walleyes are not onto them...h2l

I can't even find smallies out here when we are fishing.  I was fishing the weeds of Kenyon island and saw 5-6 bass chase my lure and bump it but not take it.  I have never had this much trouble catching fish.

Going to head out tonight and try off the islands again with my kids and fish the weeds and edges with worms/minnows on bobbers for them and toss some tube jigs etc. and see what happens.  I realize that walleye fishing is a finesse method of drifting, trolling, etc. but I can't believe we can't get into some bass.  I must not be fishing in good spots.

The 2 bass I got the other day came from about 20 fow. A friend that targets them has been fishing 1 to 8 fow and doing well...h2l

Decent bite for an hour right before sunset. Caught six, three shorts. Worm harness and jigs. Almost feels like a normal pattern is finally showing up. Been a weird bite all year for me. Funny how it shuts down at dark.

Jpb, good to hear. It seems they always turned off just as the sun hit the hills and then would pick back up about an hour later. I haven't fished after dark in a few years....h2l

I may have to go out later in the day. Just not catching any walleyes during the day. Not even many hits today and I fished a lot of water. It has been my worst year in a very long time...h2l

I've been focusing on fishing the shallows off the points and islands for smallmouth.... caught 6-7 nice sized ones last Friday, and lost just as many.  Just feels good to catch some fish!
