Fished today (didn't do great), which lead me to pick up a lot of rocks... Found a little bit of everything from caddis larva to some stupid BIG golden stones, but every rock had 3-10 small light grey-dark grey mayfly looking nymphs sizes 16 or 18 right down to scary small. Closest thing I've found researching is cream cahills... Any thoughts on what they could have been?

@mattyp123
bwo's?
or hendricksons but ours are like size 14 -16 not sure about yours ? got to remember nymph are in the river for 1 year before hatching they could be bwo's
when you do find fish today are they rising leaving a bubble behind this mean there sipping dries?
or are they raise to the surface not breaking total not leaving a bubble out of the gill plate means taking emerges?
or are they on the bottom and going side to side means nymphs??
that what being observant means when fishing... also notice the substrate of the bottom of the river weather lev es rock or gravel when seeing fish certain bug hatch on certain bottoms... like nymphs and slow water rocks you will find caddis all they way to stone flies... but if you in leaves and muck you may find hex and other may flies... like Hendrickson and bwo's some times you get different nymphs that crawl on the rocks should be a key indicator on what your find is?

Awfully quiet around here, trout season must have started
. What style hooks do you guys like for your foam hoppers? I know there's snow on the ground.. Just figured I'd take a break from the small stuff and play with some foam!

That is what happens when you buy all that lumber and marked down tools. I am sure you will make up for lost time...h2l
