Lowrance basemap charts
« on: Apr 16, 2014, 08:42 AM »
Lowrance sells the least expensive open water sonar/GPS combo out there with the Elite 4. Less than $200. I can't seem to get any decent reviews- or should I say accurate reviews- of how decent the included base map is? Does anyone have this unit and can tell me about the base map? Does it have depths? Will it show navigation markers at all? I'm not expecting the world with it, but was hoping I could get some info on it before purchasing. If it's useless without the Navionics cards and such, I might as well look into a higher end unit.

I think it has 8-10ft contour intervals, not that great withouth a navionics chip. I guess it depends what you want to do with it. I don't think the more expensive units are any better without a chip but I might be wrong. Not sure about nav markers?
shut up and fish
