The first issue will be the egg take. A few years ago they raised the water to help them get the boats in and out. I hope that as soon as the ice goes out they will close the gates.

When do you guys guess the lake will be ice free this year. Two weeks?, or longer.  Even if the lake is low now, it should come up a little by ice out ou would guess.  After seeing the size and numbers of perch there this past fall, I plan on traveling.

The ice will be gone by next weekend. The warm temps, high sun with no clouds and then warm rain for the next week will finish it off.

The lake has been the lowest I can remember, hopefully by the end of next month it will be full. Some old timers claim that low lake levels have lowered the bullhead pop.

I would agree that by next weekend there is a good chance that ice will be gone if we get some wind.

Now would be a good time for them to dredge out the SSBL and Godfrey!

Best Bullhead fishing years I have had on the south shore is when we have had really high water in the spring.

Any more info on this????

Channel 3 Syracuse:

Water rescue crews responded to Oneida Lake around 9:30 Friday morning, near Verona Beach State Park.

WKTV reported that crews were dispatched to 6541 Lake Shore Road South.

The circumstances surrounding the rescue are not yet clear.

Take a look atthe Oneida Lake page on iceshanty. Perhaps it will explain the rescue crew deployment.

Seems like they could have just walked to shore?

How on earth did that get there?

Hopefully everyone is okay.

If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.
