Maybe it was Ballantine I am thinking of? But I thought that was from NJ?CIder you talking yuengling? That's a PA beer that's been around for a long time.
Cider - wasn't Stegmaiers 1857 was it? Cheap and really not that bad. Iron city was about the cheapest local brew form my college days.
:) grants perfect porter ...sam adams cherry wheat ( yeah I know,no fruity brews,but..) any magic hat..the old newmans from albany..the list could go on..25 year vet of the finer brews..drink on !!!! fish on !!!!Hey got em you just jogged some brain cells there with the old Newmans from Albany I vaguely recollect that. I do recollect it was real good though I'm thinking that was around 1990 or so I last remember. It was a delicious brew but I guess it wasn't meant to be.
THE LATEST NEWS!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;DIs it a malt liquor type beer or an ale?

I believe the Canadians make the best beers in the world.
All the poeple that get headaches or barf frum BUD are wimps and should stick to sissy beers! ;D ???
too bad its sunday morning cant buy a 12'er till noon :'(
Slipbob, if you're going to drink a hefeweizen you might as well go for the real deal imported right from Bavaria...So right Cider I have had the Julius a few times and it's a sweetie. My local bevy center has growlers to go and they recently had a keg of Hoegarden which is fine too. Excellent choice of hefes Cider.
The beer on the right came from the bottle on the left. I really really like Maisels Weisse, but cannot get it over here. I used to drink that religiously when living in Germany. However, the Julius Echter is a pretty close substitute. It went really well with tonight's weiner schnitzel, spaetzle, and sauerkraut! ;D(https://www.myfishfinder.com/fishing_forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg31.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv94%2FCider%2FP5200072.jpg&hash=2a064b5b70d21d98f6a7c0c3baee5e27)
SB - where are you getting your imports from??I am lucky because we have a really good beverage center about 500 yards from my office. They have a quality selection of beer from Europe and a lot of micro brewed domestics. Most of it sells quickly enough that a fresh stock is usually had. My brother has a place back in the Binghamton NY area that's called PMP delicatessan and the owner carries some really great German beer. Lot's of stuff I can't recall but they sell mini kegs. He's a German importer and specializes in beer that you won't find at any beverage center. I just don't know enough about German beer to remember the names of some of it but it's way more than your average Dinkel Acker.

The Franziskaner is a great Bavarian offering
;) right now I'm in florida drinking a cold Grants perfect porter, probly the best brew I could find at the local ABC beverage mart..yum yum..
slipbob - I've never heard of that brewery before are they new and what other selections do they offer? Also, do you know if they distribute to the other side of NY? Nothing like a good IPA or bitters on a hot summer eve :P
I'm 17 and just finsihed high school, I'm not old enough to drink beer.
That said, the beer of choice at all of our keg parties was usually coors. budweiser is just vile, bitter disgustingness. sometimes my buddies and i will pick up the sam adams variety packs, which taste pretty great after a few warm up beers. at parties we tend to stcik to cheaper beers (high schoolers, what do you expect?) miller, coors, once in a while heineken keg cans. also slipbob, the otter creek beer comes from middlebury vt, where im beginning college in 2 weeks. i might have to convince some of the upperclassmen to buy me a few. ;)
better hope my mom doesnt read this one, lol.
slipbob - are you on ratebeer.com per chance?
...also it was great to sit down and study the books with a few guiness by my side.
YES, very much so! ;)...also it was great to sit down and study the books with a few guiness by my side.

We actually had a resident assistant warn us about this at orientation (15 years ago this month!). He said the first semester is nice - everyone is drinking Blue and Canadian. Come second semester, the money runs out, and everyone is drinking Old Millwater or The Beast.
I think the lowest I ever sunk was Koch's Golden Anniversary. Just thinking about it now makes me ill.

I hear you there Lance....normally, it doens't matter if I've had 5, 10 or 15 beers, I can't drink crap beer. My friends always say "Give me 5 or 6 good beers and I can drink Genny the rest of the night..." well, not me...I absolutely cannot drink any Genny...Well, the other night at a party the first one I had was a Mich Light.... Wiped it right off my list, that's for sure...I don't know how I left Miller Light off, it's starting to become one of my fav's... I'll admit though, we mainly drink Old Mill, because yeah, it's cheap...
Chucker- tell me, how are the parties up at PSC? I've heard they have some huge ones... :whistling: :thumbup_smilie:

You think the MG's the best one? hmmmm, I'm into my second big Dortmunder now and I think I'd be reaching for the Bass first. Of course I haven't had a Golden for quite a few years, not even sure if they still sell it here. Where did I read that..... Canadians didn't invent beer drinking, but we've nearly perfected it? Could of been here. You're right about not getting tanked fishing..bad form, but I'll take a few cans if I'm doing an all-nighter carp fishing on the bank cause nobody goes there. cheers, Richard

New tradition this year. I bring beer over to my buddy's house for the Bills games on Sundays. So far this year, we've had Duvel, Boddington's, classic black & tans with Bass and Guinness, and a fourth week of beer which has suddenly escaped my memory.;D black and tans are very good. noone else i know likes them. dont drink too many of those, man....lol
sammy smiths oatmeal stout/newcastle/magic hat/corona/amstel orcoors light is light, and it tastes great....COORS LIGHT!!! who drinks oatmeal beer anyways, its all about the barley and hops....ill get into oatmeal, when i want to eat healthy ;D

Bury the crudweiser products!!
lol. canadian beers good for a headache ;D
I don't really have a preference on any particular brand but when I drink beer, , , I'ts like an ANGEL is peeing on my toung :w00t:
im happy to see weve gotten away from that canadian beer. BUD
If you've ever been to Europe, Which I have twice, you'd probably never drink American beer again.
In Germany, the micro brews are the bomb! People in the states try to reproduce the micro's and are getting better at it but they still have a long way to go.
Amsterdam is the home of Heinekin as we all know, I would classify "fresh" Heinekin as the best tasting beer I've ever had. Can't stand it here in the states! Once it's about a month old due to shipping and handling, it becomes skunky and tastes nothing like the fresh stuff over there.
Here in NY, Bud's okay, but the canadians have my market! Like someone else said, "they put alcohol in it" :D

My good grief! I think you spelled 3 out of 10 correctly, have you been drinking beer? :D
At PSC during orientation (when the parents were out of the room), they told us the beer progression. First semester it's all Canadian and Blue. Second semester you're flat broke, and it's the Old Millwater & The Beast.
What about Natural Ice it was a step up from Beat and Old Swill. plus more %alc :)
Magic Hat Number 9 Draft beer Is the best special occasion beer. but only as a draft beer it tastes totally different from a bottle. It is really hard to find anywhere on draft though. One place near me has it every so often but they rotate it out with another hard to find beer.I never had that problem of it getting warm really like those Pounders lol 16oz
When im not able to get that or fishing I drink just plain old Bud. I love those new 10 oz cans..... they stay cold for for the entire can and they are a better bargain.
Jiggerman
i had oyster stout in england a few years ago. made with oysters. sounds nasty, but was really good! bud or bud light is my usual.i found a local oatmeal stout, thats a meal in a bottle..............................mmmmmmmmmmmm
I don't know what the best beer is since I have not tried them all. I really don't like the mass produced imitation beers such as Bud, etc.
Jim Cook, the owner of Sam Adams said, the big brews like Bud, Miller, and Coors are some of the best technical beers out there. What it takes to make a beer that consistant is impressive. I was at a speech he was giving; what a really cool multi-millionaire.
My new favorite is Honey Moon. This is a beer that is made by Coors, but it's a small scale brew. Their Flagship of this is Blue Moon, but they have done seasonals with it. Winter Moon is really good as well, but the signature Orange flavor is really good IMO. I would suggest everyone give it a go.
Mike
I was once told:
There is no such thing as a bad beer......just some better then others!
Stevo ;D
Haha...
....Im not a Guniness fan at all
Try pouring some Smithwicks (pronounced smiddicks) in a pint, then pouring the guinness over the top. Of course you must have the proper spoon to pour the guinness right. It really takes the bite out of the Guinness. You can also try it with Harp, it's called a half and half.it's called a black and tan. ;D
Mike
what no pabst blue ribon :'(
i still think a good ol' Beer & Clamato is the best combo!mixed together? :o
mixed together? :o
well i guess i'll have to give it a try i like clamato juice and i love beer so i will take your advice and try it tonight ;D
FREE BEER
it's called a black and tan. ;D
a 30 pack here is around $20.00 ;D
A Black and Tan is Guinness and Bass. ;)

I'd rather drink Old Milwaukee than Yingling. That is the worst beer I have ever had, and I've had some doozies! I even tried it a couple times at different bars and couldn't finish a bottle. The way everyone talks about it, you'd think it was great. NOT!!!
i love yueling i used to go to college in PA and it was way better at bars down there then it is at bars up here but laltey i been going for honey moon made by blue moon man that stuff is good to bad its 7 bucks for a 6 back and i usually have to buy 3 lol
Actually a black/tan is traditionally made with guiness/harp (both made in Ireland). We Americanized it with guiness/bass...since bass is much tastier than harp. Harp to me tastes like a old glass of keg-drawn old swilwaukee.
the one i open when i get to my campsite on thursday!!! ;D
do i hear a camping/fishing trip?? where to?
Oh Yeah, Yeugling. ;D Forgot that one too.
Now that I think about it, There's not too many I don't like.

If otis thinks yeungling is the worst, he has obviously never been to pittsburgh to try their iron city crap.
Been through PA quite a few times, but never stopped longer than to take a wiz. Been down to Maryland quite a few times and had Natty Boh (National Bohemian), that wasn't too bad!Shout out for CREAM ALE!!!
If you like Yingling, you'd love Genesee Cream Ale!!!

The stuff I brew!!!No, the stuff I brew! ;D Barring that, Victory Hop Wallop.
No, the stuff I brew! ;D
:clapping:Not dissin a fellow home brewer Attack, just being a smartarse! Cheers & keep brewing.
The stuff I brew is always good (to me anyway).
Like anything you do or make from scratch, it's typically always good.
But I could never nail it down to only one beer.
A long time ago, maybe 25 years or so, I would have answered "McCardles".
You can only get it in Ireland the last time I looked.
But again, that was 25 years ago.
These days there are literally 1000's of craft beers out there.
And most of them are d**n good.
So for me, again, the stuff I brew is always my favorite, and then most any craft beer will do just fine.
Followed of course very closely by free beer.
Cheers!
