Ok, I just learned a great new bait for trapping bait.
Chewing Gum!
It attracts all kinds of minnows, but they don't eat it. Plus, it doesn't dissolve, so it lasts a long time and is not nearly as messy as dogfood or crackers.

i just bought 2 minnow traps and tossed them in today using the dry cat food and dog food mentioned above. I wrapped it in netting to prevent it from floating, I have caught about a dozen in 2 hours after putting them in., I catching chubs. they good for any particular speciaes or good for all around bait? any advice is appreciated

Chubs are very good bait for bass and the like, big ones are great for Northern Pike.
