I heard the DFW stocked the East Housatonic in Dalton this past week, so I decided to give it a whirl today.
I fished both above and below the Depot Street dam without any luck, although I did see an old timer land a big rainbow above the dam.. (He also had a smaller brown on a stringer).
Next, I gave the West Housatonic in Pittsfield, by the Clapp Park trestle, a try with similar lack of results.
Finally, I fished the NW Housatonic along Wahconah Street, both above and below the dam, and caught two small perch below it.

Trout have been very inactive the past few weeks and have picked up a bit recently. I'm starting to get into double digits an outing with the flyrod.
How were the flows?

Jon, I gave the salmon brook a try yesterday bc the flows are so high. It was surprisingly productive. I only landed one fish but must have missed 6 others that just didn't want to commit to the streamer. They were short striking a bugger. I hooked and lost one big one but they were mostly small stockers. It's a nice change of scenery with a good amount of fish. If the forecasts hold true it doesn't look good for the flows.

The water was high, fast and cold.
I'm afraid the streams in my neck of the woods are probably a month behind those further to the South and East.
With luck, trout fishing action hereabouts will warm up by early May.

Let me know. Id like to bring the long rods up and fish some smaller waters.

I'll make a point of it.
As soon as the Hoosic is fishable/productive, I will send you a PM.
I'm looking forward to the chance to reciprocate for your hosting me last spring.

Thanks Jim. Come back down this way anytime! You could make 24 trips and never fish the same stretch!
