Tarpon - Boca Grande
« on: Jul 01, 2013, 03:05 PM »
Hooked 6 and landed 3 this day ... life-long dream to catch one of these. He was too big to hold up on my own. Fish was just over 7' long.

180 - 190lbs or so .. After about 45 mins .. I wanted to just cut the line and end my pain. The only way to describe it is to take 100 lb braid on a musky rod, hook it to the back of a crotch rocket motorcycle and tell the kid to gun while you have the drag cranked right down to the point you can't hardly pull any line out.  After 5-6 150+ yd runs like that, you just want the pain to go away !! But it was incredible and I'm very fortunate that the day I was out, the fishing was on.

Beautiful fish....my inlaws live in Port Charlotte...and we always do a ton of fishing when we are doen there (I live in Indiana)...I have caught a ton of Snook, Reds, and just about everything that Charlotte Harbor has to offer...Except...a Tarpon. But catching of of those beautiful fish is definitely on my bucket list.
