Research says they’re called “Amphicar”. The first mass produced amphibious car. I’ve seen a couple in the past that were perfect. I remember one on I-Bay...Red and looked to be brand new.

This one looked to be in the total restoration or total neglect phase.

Either way, still pretty cool.

I remember seeing those amphicars on Ibay back in the early sixties, sometimes on calm days they would venture out into the lake.  I always thought they were home made projects.

That’s just awesome. I could see me in one of those.

If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

I remember seeing one MANY years ago on Oneida Lake one summer. They would drive off the launch at Lewis Point. Definitely cause for a double take  :w00t:

It says they only made 5000 of them between 1960 and 1965. Highest selling one at auction went for $123,000. Average is around $30k. Couldn’t find an original MSRP for them. Bet it was under $5k.

Rg, save your money for the flying car; you 've got a boat for the water sport!

Doubt I’ll spend it on either.

It would look pretty cool with a pair of downriggers and a set of side planers mounted to the trunk lid.

Hence, the reason you don’t get invited to head out with me for eyes or browns in the spring Trap.

I troll the canal quite a bit. Use a few different techniques. Always catch fish. I’m also content to drift or drop anchor. Had my fill of days out on the big lake trolling for browns and such. I’d rather drift for perch.

But when you have a tugboat on a trailer loaded with toys....you must play.
