Strange old fish picture
« on: Jul 18, 2018, 10:40 AM »
I've been helping take care of a place on Sebago and found this picture cleaning out some boxes in their garage, he said this washed up on his beach 15-20 years ago and it weighed somewhere in the range of 20 pounds maybe more.

It has the body of a pike but the head looks kind of strange and the jaws are short, is it a pike?

That's definitely a northern pike. The head may be a little smaller than usual due to fast growth. Probably didn't have much competition.

Northern pike, likely bloated a bit.
At the mouth of the river at Sebago in the Spring, it's East to West unless you want a beating from the rest! ;D ;D
