I question if the state reduced the stocking numbers. Or maybe something happened to the fish after they were stocked last fall. There was very very little ice fishing pressure due to bad ice conditions so it was not " over fishing". I think we have kept 3 since February and all 3 had a dozen or so smelt in them. I did see decent pods of smelt in places while trolling. I even spent 5-6 hrs so far looking in the deep water for the salmon but its been terribly slow and not marking much at all.

H2l are you using a leader on your fireline, I use 10 lb. Suffix 832 braid with a 6 lb. Fluorocarbon leader. That has been working for me.

Thanks, that seems about right, temp is the 1st thing I look at.

Kim, I have used 6lb fireline for the past 20+ years, I feel it gives me a more direct "feel" to my jig....h2l

Yea that’s surface temp, my jigging rod has 8lbs test but I haven’t done a lot of jigging but planning to do more this year

Looking to have a spin jig rod made with all cork handle.

That would be surface temp, right?? Plus, a jigging question. What line size do you guys use for what weight jig?? Also, does the line size go down if fishing 20' water to 40' water?? TIA.
