Most people refer to them as red fins or something generic like that. The European Rudd is an invasive. They spawn in the early spring and sort of resemble a shad in that they have a very stout shape. The males are much smaller than the females and colored a bright orange. I'll take some pictures today. I don't think there's any laws against that just yet :-\

The biggest I caught yesterday was probably 16" and 2+ lbs..

Me and my bro got 32 nice crappie yesterday kept nothing under 10 inches biggest being 13.5 also got few nice gills , hopefully be back tomorrow , lotta fish moving in , very shallow , ice put off to a good start ! First trip of year in boat , felt great !!

We got out on one of the finger lakes yesterday for our first open water outing,  We tried shallow for crappie with no luck then went out for perch.
   Ended up getting a good batch with 4 close to the 2 lb mark.   Largest was a female 15 5/8 with no developed eggs inside her, she had the parts but there were just a marble size lump of grey eggs .      She weighed in at 1lb 10 oz , if she had eggs  that number would have been well over 2 lbs.
   All on plastics. 35 - 17 ft
