Nice catch. Tried for crappies on new lake and got skunked. No weed beds its pretty much 9 foot of water that runs right up to 2 feet.  Tough to find them

I fished a lake like that in Mass and drifting panfish jigs was the ticket.

Are all you maniacs getting ready...i know the little guy is chomping at the bit ta get out..hes been tying lots a different jigs and flies..he said hes gonna out fish dad every time out this yr..😄😄

try some orange 2in plastic minnows ,perch love them.

what i use for bluegills is a bobber[rocket],4lb test line, and a #14 hook with a worm
around weeds,with the hook just about 1ft below the bobber-NOTE- if i need lead to
tip the bobber vertical i will put the lead right under the bobber--gills inhale their food
with REAL SMALL mouths i want nothing to hit the lips and spit it out

Rat you are one of the most informative guy I've ever seen on any forum always like reading your posts. Has anyone ever tried gulp alive products with any success. I got a new lake with dark water just curious what you would recommend for crappie

Fishin4 eyes try dropping a white grub tail in the lake till you can't see it  when the tail vanishes the fish will be one to two foot below that point so measure the line from rod tip at top of water to white grub tail were it disapeard at and add a foot or two to it .. then fish for the crappie at that depth   .. like if in 8 fow the grub tail disappears 5 foot down the crappies will sit at 6 or 7 foot down.. then I use cause there legal here minnows live ones..  along with jigs either under a bobber or cast and retrieved no bobber bolth retrived really slow.. as for tails on those crappie jigs I use gulp chartreuse shad tails 1 inch size or white grub tails or etc like chartreuse with head colors of hot pink, hot orange, and hot chartreuse..   on white bodies.. helps the jig and tail stand out in the stained water.. also the jig under a bobbber is at that depth explained early were thr white grub disappeared at...

Braz315   a ice jig under a bobber with spikes or a wax worm is always deadly as is small hair and tube jigs .....bait works too it won't take you long and you'll get the feel for it

Thanks boon ill have to give it a shot. They've been suspended 15 foot off the bottom in 30 feet of water in the basin all winter.
