Geeze...smile already! Looks like a mug shot😁

Hit the docks for a while this morning. Lots of Rudd and a couple sunnies. This guy was my fishing companion for more than an hour.

Just hung out on the dock next to me and waited for a handout.

Pretty cool.

If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Rudd are an invasive that are present in large numbers in Seneca and other lakes including the Great Lakes. Similar, but not to be confused with the native Golden Shiner.

Rudd

Golden shiner

Rudd are native to the Baltic countries . I'm not really sure how they got here, but most likely they were brought over as a food source. I'll say one thing though, they're a ball on the flyrod.

They do pull like mad on light tackle.  I've caught them up over 2 lb. on Silver and in Canandaigua.  Certain time of year they turn a bright orange.

Right now is that time. I was wishing I had the fly rod with me that day.

Oh well, back to the bullhead this afternoon.

Got a couple dozen yesterday down this way.  Gave them to an older fellow who trudged thru the mud with his walker loaded with his fishing gear but was having no luck.  A glimpse into my future.  Kept a couple to toss on the grille for lunch today.  Found a few of these while shaking down the boat on Friday....

Beautiful day on the water. We celebrated my good buddies birthday with a bang. 3 limits in a few hours and a few bonus fish aswell. Nice multi species day.. sun was hot, breeze was light, and the fish were on fire 🎣
