I hit a couple spots this morning for pannies. Cold front has them shut right off. Guess it's back to bullhead this afternoon.

On large bodies of water by the time an invasive species has reached breeding population levels it is very difficult if not impossible to eradicate or significantly impact the population.  Removing a few individuals just has very little effect.  There are a few exceptions, such as when a species concentrates in specific areas for reproduction.  I am thinking of the lamprey control program.  With that said, I know when I dispatch a coyote on our farm it probably has no long term impact but at least I know THAT coyote won't be eating any fawns or our cats.  By the way from what I have seen while scuba diving/snorkeling the goby population in Lake O is nowhere near what it was 10 years ago.  They have "leveled out", for whatever reason.

Predators learn and adjust to new food sources. In looking for further info I bumped into an article  from Seagrant. They stated that the goby has had no significant impact on Lake Erie and that predators feed on them  heavily. It's not unbelievable that perch, walleye, smallmouth and others have figured out how to catch them.

Being in Maine, Our state pretty much sees anything but a trout or salmon as invasive lol. I caught and removed this invasive guy from one of our lakes the other day.

Being native to the country doesn’t mean they are native to the region.

Come and have at them! Bluegills are also invasive, and even the native yellow and white perch. Get a license Take all you want, there is basically no size or bag limit on anything but bass and salmonoids.

Absolutely! It's in the regulations. They are to be immediately euthanized and reported to the Dec.
