Title: Flooding photos.
Post by: Water Wolf on May 01, 2011, 05:57 PM
Hi all,

I though I would share with you some of the photos I shot this weekend just a tiny gimpse of the floods were are getting here in Sask.

On April30th my family and I had a look at the lakes around the Foam Lake area to see what the ice was doing.
Here are a few photos.

This is  the main boat launch at Fishing Lake on Leslie Beach looking E.

I don't think it will be in use any time soon.
On the up side the lake is beginning to melt, and break up. :)

This is KC Beach looking N.

The ice has pushed up 2-3 feet.

There is a fair amount of open water around the mouth of Hazel creek in Fishing Lake.

The current looks quite strong going under the bridge.

This is the E side of Fishing Lake looking W.

The ice sheet is quite a ways from shore here.

As we go further E we came across Stony Lake.
Stony Lake is ice free, but super high. The lake has spilled into the bush all around the edge and is now lapping at the road.
This is use to be the boat launch there.

That sign in the distace use to be the regular shoreline. :o

Further down the road is Whitesand / Pelican Lake. It is also super high and it's boat launch is also way under water.  :P

That bit of bull rushes in the distance use to be along the edge of the launch.

I got one more surpries just S of the launch, Stony Lake has fl I was thinking of ooded all the way to the W ditch and is now flooding over the road into Whitesand Lake, the culvert flowing into the lake has no effect.

Man what a year for floods, most of the roads in that area are under water, will soon be under water or are unpassable.

Not sure where I will be fishing in early May, most of my spots I was thinking of are way under water.  ???

Thanks surfinlizard. :)

The flooding is a real problem here in Sask. as well as Man.

Our Southern fishing zone seems to be effected the most by it.

Not sure how long it will take for everything to get back to normal, but I will have to find some new shore fishing spots.

On the bright side the fish now have lots of very fresh water, new areas to spawn and new areas to hunt.

Looks like I will be fishing in the forest, lol. ::)

Question: If a Fish knocks over a tree in the forest, will anyone hear it ?? ;D  Good luck and hopefully it recedes quickly !
