Live or Artificial ????
« on: Apr 09, 2009, 01:17 PM »

Just trying to see what is the popular bait of choice, for many years I have used mostly live
minnow of various sizes, and it has been a reliable bait,we have caught a variety of Fish,
but recently I have tried to shift gears and use more Artificial baits, which does allow
me to cover more water........I know that every fishing outing present a different set of circumstances,
and we as Fisherman, have to figure out that pattern,to be successful.....Any thoughts would be
          appreciated.........

     95% artificial 5% live bait.

Depends on what i am fishing for.The bottom line is that artificials fool em' most of the time, but live bait fools them every time ;D

I think dead bait should be in the mix also, it can be extremely productive under the right circumstances. Like fishing some stained water for example. All have a time and place, and I usually go with whats working.
We were biting this morning, we were biting this morning, we were biting this morning......

Spring and summer I like live bait, especially jumbo leeches but nite crawlers work for me too. I rig 'em alot of different ways depending on the presentation I'm looking for. Usually will have some minnows close by too. Late summer and fall I'll switch to artificials more. But I always have both live and arts. just in case. And like anyone else, I keep trying different things until something works. Watching a bass smash a topwater buzzbait at 5am in a light rain is just cool!
