That is nuts, icing a huge carp....so far to me that is the the best fish of the thread!

I have had a goal ever since my son turned 4 that i wanted to catch a fish bigger then him... Well 3 years went by and this was the closest i got!

53 1/2" Muskie (West Arm Lake Nippising)
55# Carp (Lake Ontario)
Mid 40 pound Laker (Great Bear Lake)
90" Atlantic Sailfish (Key West)

39lb 13oz king salmon

   Hey fillet back in 87 I had one weighed at the old whitakers that weighed over 42lbs. Who knows how accurate those scales were back then! I have a certified scale in my fillet station and the biggest on that scale is 36lbs! What's your biggest steelie, I got one 23.49lbs in Feb. of 97. Just wondering! Did you ever see some of those pic's Bruce Walden had in his lodge back in the day! He made my 20lb steelhead collection look like meatballs!

snagger I weighed mine at the old silver star market,steelhead  20 lbs+ gave it away, show you the pic ,19.5lb skamania , my fav is 8lb brown while steam fishing on the plateau.and my 1.4lb sunny,

I caught him/her on a shiner.. I do know they will hit spinners and jigs at the right time of year!!

It was about a 20-25 min fight, and there is a great story behind the whole thing too!!
I took it home and measured it/weighed it and then brought her back and released her...( I had to know what she weighed)  In NH,VT,MA,PA,DL,ME that fish would have been a state record but not in good old NYS!!!   I call them the susquehanna salmon, they fight HARD and i love to catch them!!!

wow I have caught some big carp (was convinced I found an area likely to cough up the NH state record and came close a few times) but not through the ice and not quite that big    impressive.
