What speed does everyone troll for trout? How about salmon?
I hear a lot of "trolled fast" and "trolled slow" but what does everyone mean by that? I've started bringing my GPS out with me on every trip just to find out how fast I am going. I haven't seemed to hit that sweet speed though. Saturday we trolled Tricky Pond and Sebago at 2.5 mph and at 3.5 mph with a variety of setups. No luck.

My trolling speed is usually determined by the lure and its action. I have a Fish Hawk which tells speed and temp. at the downrigger ball and my average speed is 1.5 to 2.0mph. I have trolled at 2.5mph but not much faster than this. This is for Salmon and Browns. Usually when I'm on the lake the boats next to me are going faster, maybe they have streamer's??
Now for lake trout...... I go Slooooooow.

i troll 2 to 2.5 for on and 1 mph for tougue , when i troll sewed bait i can not go slow enough,the slower thew better
